Hi, I'm Consuelo.
I'm a lifelong Coloradan, mom of a high school senior, small business professional, and President of the Summit School District Board of Education. I'm running for House District 13 because mountain and rural communities deserve leadership grounded in lived experience and real results.
My Roots

I'm a proud member of the Navajo Nation. I was born in Boulder, raised in Longmont, attended college in Durango, and built my early career in Boulder before moving to Summit County in 2011 with my partner and our three-year-old daughter. Colorado shaped my values. Mountain life shaped my perspective.
I grew up camping, skiing, hiking, and fishing. I spent school breaks with cousins and grandparents, grounded in the family, responsibility, and community.
Showing up matters. Relationships matter. Representation matters. Those principles guide how I lead.
Professional Experience in Small Business

My career has been rooted in locally owned small businesses. After working at an independent bookstore and as a licensed CPA specializing in nonprofit auditing, I joined a small property management company as an accountant. Nearly twenty years later, I still support the owners and tenants of long-term apartment housing.

I understand budgets. I understand accountability. I see how housing policy and cost of living affects working class people and our communities. Decisions made at the Capitol ripple through real communities through rent, wages, classrooms, and small business. Everything is connected.
Proven Leadership Built in Mountain Communities

My daughter grew up attending Summit County public schools and is now a high school senior. Public education is personal to me because it strengthens entire communities and is foundational to opportunity in rural Colorado.

Elected to the Summit School District Board of Education in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, I now serve as President.

For six years, I've led in a high-cost, tourism-driven mountain community where housing pressures, workforce shortages, and funding challenges intersect daily with education policy. I have:

I've worked inside the systems that shape real lives. I've made hard decisions, managed public resources responsibly, and delivered measurable outcomes that impact thousands of families.

House District 13 deserves leadership grounded in experience and mountain and rural realities. I've balanced budgets, made hard decisions, and delivered results where state policy meets real life. I'm ready to bring that leadership to the State House.
